The time is really going so fast.. It's already been more than a month you heard something from me here.. Do you also feel sometimes that you're not doing something special but never have enough time or that you have to less time for all the things you want to do? Well I've realised this is just normal life and I'm sure you all know what I mean.. It sounds maybe a bit silly but I'm really trying to not be depressed since it is dark like 80% of the day and it feels like I'm doing nothing else than working, eating, sleeping and repeat.. Yes it is hard but it's getting better and my new job really make life more fun. My new job wich isn't so supernew anymore is really interesting. I'm working as a Country Manager for SpaDreams Sweden which is so cool. I'm responsible for the swedish market and SpaDreams is a international tour operatior for wellness trips. I'm really happy that Niklas found this job and that I got the chance to try my wings here. I really feel like I develop and my new collegues are really so nice! We are sitting like in a big office and there are so many people from abroad since we have SpaDreams in other countries as well. t's such a nice mix in the office between talking english, practise my german and to listen daily to so many other languages.
The company invited us for a Christmas party in Frankfurt last week for meeting our other collegues there. It was so much fun and it was really nice to talk with everyone outside the office environment. We went first to the Christmas market in Frankfurt when we arrived..
.. and after we had checked in at the hotel we went to a club where we also ate buffédinner in the evening. Later on some of us continued to a second club where they played 80's/90's music. The night was very long so on the trainride home the day after we were all just sleeping.
This past weekend was busy busy busy. I hung out with some collegues after work on friday and we got invited for food which was so tasty. It was so cozy to just sit and talk. On saturday Niklas woke me up when his grandma and Manuela came for a visit. Exactly when they went Pascal came since we had planned to celebrate Denis in the evening. We had promised though to meet Niklas relatives in Lübeck so we went there at about 6pm and then back home at 11pm and met everyone up. It was so much fun to meet the friends from Burger King again. Denis had fixed a table at the club Joy which is located quite close by here where we are living and we basically closed the place at 5 am.. That evening or no the whole day really went so fast.. Time really flies when you're in good company!
Since our car has been completely our life for the past months you maybe wanna get an update on that too. Niklas and his dad took together apart the whole front part of the car since they needed to change something behind. I almost cried when I saw it afterwards haha.. I thought how will we ever get that back together and maybe you understand why? Since we already had taken out the kitchen/floor and now this.. It was feeling like 1000 steps back with the car but I knew as soon as we would put it together again my worries would dissapear, it just looked worse than it was. They managed to change the small part and Niklas had found some car-lights online so we spend almos two days with trying to fix them on the car in some way and it was much more tricky than it maybe looks..
.. but in the end we got it and I'm proud over us though since we managed to not get too pissed to eachother when we screwed everything back haha. And the lights was also workning so we got so happy. I have to admit that we also got a bit of help from the boyfriend of Niklas sister who is supertalented when it comes to cars so he helped us a bit with the electronic parts of the lamps and connect them to the switch. Now the car is getting fixed so that the rust will be taken away. Next step after that will be to put floor and kitchen inside again and I'm already so excited!
So today, sunday is the end of my first week at my new job. I felt that it was time to leave my job at Burger King even though I will miss some of my collegues there.. Niklas helped me a couple of weeks ago to search for other jobs and the first one I applied for I got! I was a bit surprised but so happy and now I've already worked there for a week. It is a very interesting job and I'm learning a lot every day! I will tell you more about it in the next blog post
Saturday last week, the day I did my last day at Burger King, Niklas dad invited us for dinner at Wirtshaus Oering since he had have birthday and it was so cozy. We were almost alone in the restaurant part but it was really nice anyway. Then I got the chance to go around and take some nice pictures hehe.
Niklas school had arranged a Halloween party during tuesday evening, the northern part of Germany have wednesday the 31st as a holiday and it's new since this year, so there were many Halloween partys going on during tuesday night. We dressed out a bit but it's so difficult to know how to dress out I think so we did it quite simple.. Some scary lenses and some fake blood and finish! The evening didn't end so good though because someone stole my jacket and my new scarf and there were a fight so they had to close everything and the police came.. So yeah that sucked but I just hope my things will come back in some way to me.
Niklas did again a really good deal and found a minifridge for only €90. It's a really good brand and it works both with electricity and gas. We will not use the gas though since it is too dangerous and we have to move the wall on the side since the fridge is a little bit to wide.. But I'm sure we'll find a good solution for that!
Even though we just installed the fridge we had to take it out again.. We have, with the help of Niklas dad some days ago taken out the kitchen, and yesterday we continued with the floor. We need to get some rust away on the outside of the car and some "car experts" have told us that we even should check under the floor and behind the kitchen for rust so that we are not missing something.. The kitchen had so many screws and so many were "hidden" so it took some hours even though we were three and then the floor had like 1.000.000 skrews also and some were so rusty so it was almost not possible to get away.. But when we finally got the floor away we found one hole from the rust but it was anyway looking good since that isn't to much of a trouble to fix, I hope anyway! We took out the kitchen carefully since we want to keep it (we just have to find a solution for the wall on the side of the fridge as you could see inte right picture above) and the floor we will change since this one was destroyed, sticky and just not nice..
Now it was a while ago since I wrote someting here again. We have been really busy and it feels like I'm doing nothing else then work and after work, eating, buying food or cleaning and yeah.. Just simply "every day life". I thought I will show you some things what we have done with our van anyway. We have been very effective if I can say it myself. Since mine and Niklas studying/working times (like that I'm off in the week and working most 12-21 shifts and so on..) and Niklas off in the weekends it has been a bit tricky to find time where we had time together so that we could fix with our beauty..
One of the first things we did when we came to Germany was that we drove it to the car mechanic (we are very lucky that we know one special where we can go with the car and who we really trust.). He said that we did a really good deal and the car was in very good condition. He wrote a list of things we could fix by ourself and then he would do some things later.
In the pictures below yo can see when we colored the front frame of the car. It was quite a lot of rost and Niklas found some good things for that which kind of "took away" the rost or how to say it. So then just the other day we got totally finished with it and painted it white so now it's looking like new!
Niklas found an new gaspipe online so we changed that and it was much more difficult and took more time than we frist thought..
The old gaspioe had so much rost so that there were even holes through.
.. and Niklas found again online a very good deal. We got 9 seats for 100€ so really cheap! So it was two pair of seats with three seats connected together like a sofa and then the single driver seat and a double seat next to it. We didn't think the double seat fit in our van since we are usually only two who will drive and then it's more comfortable to only have two single seats in the front. Niklas went then online again and found a guy who wanted our doubble front seat in exchange to a single one (it was the same kind also) so it was a perfect match! We changed the seat by ourself and that took also much more time than we thought.. But I guess that's normal while fixing with cars haha.
One more amazing deal Niklas did online was to find the protections (or I think even has a own name but I don't know what it's called hehe) for the wheels for only 1€ for all four!?! Usually they cost about 100-150€ so how he did that I don't know. He really have a good talent for this and I'm very happy for that. We got, as a present since Niklas has birthday soon and as a christmas present, new tyres from Niklas dad which was so nice of him. I could never ask for something like that, so very kind of him really. We didn't want to have the trouble that we have to take them on and off, like summer and winter tyres, so we got the kind which is working for both.
We bought also a new handle to the side door since both the inside and outisde handle were broken kind of when we bought the van.
We have also made the inside a bit cozier. We found some plastic plants at Ikea and Niklas had an old beamer/projektor so we have now like a cinema in the car haha. I just hope we will not only watch TV while we are driving out but I can at the same time imagine that it's really cozy when it's raining outside or someting like that.
I put up some light what we bought at Ullared Gekås on our road trip in Sweden. I sewed also like hangers for the "white wall" for when we wanna watch a movie.
There's of course still more things we want to fix.. But that's how it is always I guess. I'm so happy about our car. Can't wait to go on a road trip again!
As the headline says I'm working at Burger King for the moment here in Germany. I worked some years ago.. I think it was like 3 years ago or so in Sweden at Burger King while I was still in school. I got this job with a little bit help from one of Niklas friends so that was really kind. My first day was not the best because of some things.. It's not easy to be new at a job (I know I just said I worked in Sweden but it was still not the same) and then the language, I drove lost with the bike in the forest on the way home, hit my knee and yeah just all the things together just "made the cup overflows" as you would say in Swedish even though it sounds a bit weird in English I think. But I hope you understand what I mean? It is going better and better since I'm starting to get to know my colleagues more and it's a good way to learn german. I'm usually standing in the back doing the hamburgers so it's mostly "ein käse- one cheese, gurken- cucumber" and so on haha but I'm trying to say some german words here and there and I'm happy since it's a very good start anyway. I've also started with a german course A1+ which is the lowest level but I like it and it's good to learn and start from the beginning with the language. The course is very interesting since the teacher is only talking with us in german so I'm very happy that I've already picked up a lot of the language.. So soon I can speak it.. I hope!
We went, I know it's quite a long time since then but, the 20th of september to Hansa Park which is an amusementpark where I've never been before. It was perfect weather that day, we could even have shorts! I was so amazed since the last days on the roadtrip in Sweden were quite rainy and cold.. We chose a perfect day both with the weather and it wasn't many people there at all which meant almost no lines to teh attractions which was so nice.
One of their newest attraction was a swedish one called Kärnan and it was so scary really! It's not so easy to see or get the feeling from the pictures but it was really crazy.
Niklas started university the 1st of october and a few days before that they had an event on the uni where they got some information and so on. It was very interesting and the school seems to be so good, I'm sure he'll like it there!
There were, two weekends ago, an event in Hamburg which we went to. I didn't really know what to expect. I just knew it was an anti racism parade called We'll Come United which was supposed to go through the city. It was really amazing and so many people joined!
We walked behind one of the trucks where we knew one of Niklas and Lukas favourite DJs were going to play and it was such a good feeling when more and more people joined and walked in the line.
Final destination was Landungsbrücken where they stopped and the party continued until the evening. It felt almost like being on a festival when everyone were dancing in the dayligt. It didn't really feel like we were staning in the middle of the street dancing behind a truck haha.
We came back home from Mallorca on the 7th, the friday, and during the weekend I met my girls and started with some packing of my things. It's always so nice to see them and I'm so happy we still manage to see each other when I'm usually back home since everyone has their life with work or studies.. One big cozy hug is all it takes and then we are chatting like before and it's just so amazing! ❤
Niklas came on monday afternoon with the van since we planned to do a road trip down the westcoast so I brought also then some more things with me. I did some calls during that tuesday since there is some things which needs to be fixed while going to another country and to work, even though we are living in the European Union which is also making everything easier for us. We were at my dads place that evening and they had made so tasty food and it was really cozy, this is really some of the gold moments. The day after we ate lunch with my mum and then we packed the last things in the van. It was really hard to say goodbye to my mum. I always hate to say goodbye even though I know it's not for forever and that my family are not more far away then a phone call. I fell some tears since it is quite a big step for me. It's really not easy to live so far away but at the same time I feel like I want to try to do this right now, but of course I wish I could be everywhere at the same time...
We started with our roadtrip down the Swedish westcoast in the direction of the swedish town called Strömstad. It was possible to take a way which led through Norway a bit so we drove that one. The road went through the city called Halden which was so cozy and I wished we could've stopped but we wanted to arrive to our destination before it got dark..
.. but on swedish land again we took a short stop somewhere after the road..
..and we came at dusk to Strömstad and walked there for quite a short time since it was so windy and cold.. I like the city otherwise but it was a bit different to see it now so empty when I know how nice it is in the summer since I were there with my sister and mum a few years ago in the summer.
we camped a bit outside the city in the forest and saw a really beautiful sky before the night came. We used the app Camp4Night during all of the nights we camped since it was possible to find pretty places where it was both real campings and just like stops after the road.
The next day we called a guy who were selling his van.. So we met up, looked at the van which was looking very good but it was anyway a hard decision.. So we drove back up to Smögen and spend the afternoon/evening there. We were very lucky because they had an evnet just this weekend called Island Of Light Smögen. It started when it got dark and it was like small "stops" where they had different art things with light/music and so on. It was really nice and a lot of people.
During the night we texted the car ower and said we wanted to buy the car. It was quite spontaneous but we still had a good feeling about it so we drove back to him the next day and signed the papers..
.. and after that we drove throught Gothenburg which was so horrible. Super much traffic, a van I'm not used to drive and I generally hate to drive in bigger cities since it's a bit too stressful for me.. But after some wrong turns and chaos we finally came through and drove further to Ullared Gekås which is Sweden's most popular visitor as they write on their on website. It's a huge store I think you could call it where they sell almost everything supercheap and there's also shops next to it with like different brands and so on.. It's really huge and easy to spend money so usually that wasn't the ideal place for us who had just bought a van haha but I think we did good anyway. We only bought some small decoration things for the van and our new room.
The next day Niklas had looked up how much ferry would cost to the day after and it turned out we would save some money and it's nicer to sit on a ferry for 10hours then to drive I think. So we booked it and drove more towards the south where it was suppost to depart the day after, and then on the way we came to the town called Lund. I know some people who is studying there but since we didn't know when we would be there I hadn't told them something.. But Marcus had luckily time to meet us up and we met for about an hour so it was exactly enought time for him to give us his awsome tour through the city and the campus which was so interesting. I got a bit jealous since it seemed to be so much fun being a student!
We drove further south before it got dark and found a very nice spot in the forest, which we also found on the app, where we stayed for the night. We did a fire and some bbq while enjoying the swedish nature.
Our last day was kind of only spent on the ferry from Trelleborg, Sweden, to Travemünde, Germany. It took about 10 hours and cost about 100€/van (on weekdays it's cheaper though) so that was quite good and we just relaxed, slept a bit and ate. I'm so happy we got the chance to do this kind of road trip in Sweden. It is for sure such a beautiful country and I'm so proud that this is where I'm coming from!
If I should be honest I'm struggling a bit with if I really should continue to write here on the blog.. But I have also got a lot of positive feedback from many of you who are reading this, which really warms my heart. It just feels like I'm always so late with updating here but at the same time it's not always I have had internet in the last weeks or time to sit down to write since I want to spent time with my family, friends and Live In The Moment. But I will do my best to try to give you an update what has happened since the last post from Mallorca. So as I wrote in the previous post, we were swimming quite a lot both in the pools, we were allowed to use all the pools the big hotel had, and a lot in the ocean.
Both me and my big sister tried to "naturally" bleach our hair a bit.. We were swimming in the ocean and then we put some fresh lemon in the hair waited for an hour and then washed it away. Both got a bit blonder but not so much , maybe we shoul've done it in another way or longer?
When we first arrived at the hotel and saw on the schedule that there were free yoga every morning from 8-9am we said of course let's do this! Oh that was really a difficult promise to hold, I did it only once but my sister did it a few mornings.. Of course it was nice but too early for me.
There were almost every day at 16 o'clock waterpolo I think in all of the pools. We participated twice and it was so much fun. We were probably the loudest and the slowest but we had a blast!
Since the trip to Spain was like a celebration to my dad who turned 50 my sister and I wanted to surpise him with an activity while we were there. The place we stayed at, Cala D'or, wasn't exactly how we expected so we had to change plans for what surprise we wanted to give him. We talked with everyone and decided we wanted to go on a boat tour. The hotel had a lot of options so we tried to get help from them.. If I would know how much stress it would be we would never have looked into it. I talked with almost everyone in the reception and there were no one in the staff who could give us a clear answer. We booked another boat tour instead which was located at the beach just outside the hotel. It was a full day tour so the boat picked us up at 9.30am and then we came back at about 5pm. We got the chance to swim from the boat, we saw the coast but the beach they took us too looked almost the same as the one at our hotel.
Some fun pictures when we were driving and had competitions on the go karts which was in the small amusement park close to the hotel..
.. And on the last day we also did stand up paddling. It looked so easy but it wasn't haha. Almost all of us tried and some of us were more in the water than acctually on the board haha!
The trip to Mallorca was really so wonderful. It was so nice to spend time with the family and I'm so happy we got the chance to go all together. Thank you ❤
We have, during the latest days, spend a lot of time by the pool. Our hotel is located just by the water so we have both pool and ocean view which is so nice! I woke sadly up with very strong migrane our first day so I had to stay in bed until after lunch so that really sucked.. But after quite a lot of headache medecine and a little bit of food I got better and better so that was good anyway and I really hope I will be free from migrane and headache during the rest of this vacation.
We took a walk our first day to a beach nearby where it was a bit less crowded compared to the beach at our hotel. We took a swim in the ocean there and the water had just the perfect temperature!
In the evening that day we went to a very cozy mexican steakhouse, Rancho El Patio, just next to our hotel. The food was very spicy but very tasty.
The day after we ate at a restaurant called Restaurante Paparazzi which was located next to the mexican one. The others ordered pizzas which wasn't so tasty sadly.. But my cheese, walnut, pear and honey salad was very delicious.
After the food we walked the street behind the hotel where it's quite many like "tourists" shops with souvenirs, shoes, wallets, bags, clothes etc... So both me and my big sister did quite some shopping. After that we went to one of the two small amusement parks which was called Happy Park. There were no entry fee to any of them so you only paid for whay you did for example. We drove a lot with the small go karts which were there and wow we had so much fun and we all turned into kids again haha!
Linnéa and I flew back home to Sweden early on tuesday mornining this week. It was very weird to say goodbye already since the week she had been at our place had gone so fast! I thought we would have time to meet again during the week but it has been quite stressful and a lot of things to do.. For example my big sister came also home on wednesday so we started to pack and prepared since we were going with dad and the family to Spain on friday (yesterday).
My big sister had birthday on thursday so we celebrated her in the evening at my mums place and we had celebrated at my dad's place during wednesday evening. We also celebrated my dad a bit since he turned 50 a few days ago.
Since he turned 50 a few days ago my dad and family asked us many months ago if we wanted to go with them to Mallorca, Spain, kind of like a present since my dad didn't wish for any material presents. We thought that sounded like a really good idea so even though it has been a bit tricky to get it to work for everyone it did and we will enjoy this trip so much!
We flew yesterday in the afternoon and my dad got a really big surprise at the airport. One of his closest friends, with his two daughters, who we have known for many years and we always played with each other when we were younger so they're really good friends to the family. We knew they had booked the same trip as us but we hadn't told my dad so when they stood behind us for check in he couldn't believe his eyes. I think I've never seen him so shocked haha! So sweet really and it was so nice to see him so happy. I'm sure this trip will be amazing even though it started with one of us lost his phone for a short while haha!
It took quite a long time to come to the hotel yesterday but we had already transfer booked so everything went smooth but everything took time anyway.. We have like apartments and me and my big sister is sharing one and they are really so nice, even though the pictures is a bit too dark. The hotel is located just by the ocean so I will show you some pretty pictures the coming days!
Busy busy busy.. I really wanted to update here earlier but wow I've had so much things going on the last one and a half week. I really like it when things is happening but it's not always so easy to find time for the blog which I'm very sorry for :/
The last tuesday anyway was a really good day since my best friend Linnéa came down to us in Germany. I met her up on the airport at lunchtime and then we drove directly to Hamburg city center for some shopping. It was so nice to see and talk with her agin.
We took later on the public transport boat from Landungsbrücken Brücke 3 to Neumühlen/Övelgönne which only took like 15 min and was much easier than I thought!
Niklas met us up at Strand Perle and we had a drink and talked a bit before it was time to drive home..
.. and wednesday morning I had to clean like 3 and a half hour even though it wasn't really dirty in the house. But well well Niklas and I also managed to fix his TV, okay mostly Niklas I was only acting like assistance hehe.
The weekend consisted of festival and partying. We drove already on thursday and didn't came home until monday afternoon. The festival was called Waldfrieden Wonderland and we booked it in like january so I've really looked forward to it.
The first evening we arrived I sadly got migraine.. I tried to take as much of my headache medecine I could, vitamins, food and I tried to drink a lot of water but I think I sadly did it when it already was a bit too late. I really hate that I'm so sensetive sometimes with the "food-and-sleep- clock" or how to say it..
.. It was also raining a bit but mostly in the mornings when we were sleeping so that was quite okay anyway. It was good with some dropps since the camping was located on a field and it was really crazy how much dust it was. Some of the cars were so dusty it looked like they had been standing there for years!
There were like 4 main floors where 3 were outisde and one was inside in the night when it was very cold outisde. They had made it so cool and some floors were like seperated but connected with the same music or how to say it haha. I really like all the love they put down on the decoration and all of the small details.
One fun thing I have to mention more is that they had an opening cermeny where there were an orchester who walked in like a parade through the whole festival area and they finished at the main floor. It was really a big contrast from the music which was usually playing there so it was totally something I've never seen before but what a fantastic idea at the same time!
During thursday afternoon Niklas and I were at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Neumünster which is a 30 min drive away from here. I really like to go around there since it's outside, so yes only when the weather is good it's nice haha. I found some new black sneakers, similar to my other black ones which I've had so many years now..
.. We also couldn't go home before we had visited our favourite restaurant, Marché Mövenpick Neumünster, who makes the most delicious pizza and it's so cozy inside!
We didn't do so much during friday. Last weekend with the festival was quite hard with less sleep and so on so now it was quite nice to just take it easy and reload a bit. I started a bit with the movin of our room too. We have talked about and decided that we will rearrange it a bit here in the house so we get a bit more "us" feeling or how to say it. We will anyway make one of the guestrooms to our bedroom and Niklas old room as hang out room and where we both can sit at a desk, which is very good later on when Niklas will study for example. I'm sure it will be good in the end and it's nice to have a project, even if it's just quite a small one. (It's very bad pictures I know but I almost forgot to take any since my head was all about this and how to do it in the best way..)
On saturday we celebrated Manuela's daughter since she will start school. They have a bit different tradition here in Germany compared to what we have in Sweden. I don't remember that we celebrate it or so when we start the first grade at home, or have I just forgot it? But here they usually get a Schultüte, or "school bag" as it would be called in english which is full with school things, presents and usually quite a lot of candy. They bring it to the school, get introduced to teachers etc and takes some photos.. And after that they usually celebrate it at home with more presents and cakes. Manuela had made her new apartment so cozy. It was so nice decorated and so lovely food!
Yesterday we were cleaning and moving with some furnitures between the rooms which took quite a long time. We drove also to Niklas dad in hope that he could fix Niklas broken TV.. But they couldn't figure out what the problem was sadly so we couldn't do more than to take it back home again.
